Description: The risk of falling behind the US in the 1980's due to Reagan's massive defense spending caused the USSR to accelerate its own military research and development projects. One of them was modernizing the field uniforms from the archaic, almost WW1 aesthetics, of the M69 series to the more practical, contemporary (to the 80's) appearance of the M88 "Afghanka". The TTSkO was a camouflage pattern meant to be applied to the Afghanka that was used by some elite units of the Soviet military, particularly the VDV, Naval Infantry, and several Spetsnaz units, particularly towards the end of the Soviet Union and early in the Russian Federation period in the brutal wars of the 1990's. Many variations of this very effective pattern were made and many continue to be used today in the former Soviet republics, including Ukraine, which used this pattern as late as 2014 in the initial confrontation in Crimea. It has largely been phased out in the current (2022) Ukraine War in favor of more modern, western designs, though it is still occasionally used by second line units, You will get exactly the item shown in the pictures. These jacket is in the rare 54-4 size, meaning they are for a 5ft 9 inch tall person with a 42-44 inch chest. It appears to be unissued and unused, so there are no rips, holes, tears, or stains. The stamp is fully legible, showing a clear 1996 (post-Soviet) date.
