Description: This is an extremely rare 6 1/4 inch high by 4 1/2 wide vintage tin mechanical/squeeze fan/feather/belly dancer toy that dates from around the 1920s. I have been in the toy business since around 1981 and I have never even seen this toy or a photo of it anywhere. It is unmarked which led me to think maybe it was a prototype but it seems too finished, too well-made and too elegant a toy to be a prototype. It certainly looks like it is German, perhaps something Distler might have made. As provenance for this this toy, I acquired it on 12-31-99 from the estate/widow of F.H. Griffith, the very renowned and legendary toy collector and author for Hobbies Magazine. You may Google him if he is not known to you. This is the first time it is being offered anywhere. For those of you who are interested in the most rare and fine toys, it does not get any more rare and finer than this toy. I say this after having been a dealer, collector and promoter of toys shows starting more than 40 years ago and having seen and handled many thousands of toys. Ask a question if you have one.
