Applying alternating voltage to piezoelectric material slices (such as quartz crystals, piezoelectric ceramics, lead barium titanate, etc.) generates electrostrictive vibration and ultrasonic waves. When the frequency of the applied alternating voltage is equal to the natural frequency of the chip and resonance occurs, the strongest ultrasonic wave is generated. Piezoelectric ultrasonic receivers generally work by utilizing the inverse effect of ultrasonic generators, and their structure is basically the same as ultrasonic generators. Sometimes, the same transducer is used for both generator and receiver purposes. When ultrasound acts on a piezoelectric chip, it causes the chip to expand and contract. Alternating charges are generated at the two interfaces of the chip, which are then converted into voltage and amplified to be sent to the measurement circuit, and finally recorded or displayed.
