We use different woods that all have a nice light color. Most of the time we have Maple and Birch available but due to supply issues we do not specify which wood will be used. These are laser cut items. You can expect some dark edges or char marks- you can easily sand them away or paint over them- this is NOT a defect and will not be replaced. I do recommend using a sealer if painting the item white or lighter colors due to the tanins in the wood that will bleed through. I personally use Shellac Spray prior to painting. Just allow it time to dry before you paint.
