Description: UNIVERSAL GENEVE 885104/01 SPACE COMPAX Rare Watch in Outstanding Original Condition I bought this watch here on eBay a couple of years ago from European Watch Company but it just doesn't get the wrist time it deserves. All pictures are from the original listing. They are also on the EWC website. NOTE: I am not affiliated with European Watch Company, I just kept the pictures. DESCRIPTION -- CASE -- Original stainless steel case in excellent condition. Does not appear to have been polished.. 38mm diameter, 40mm with crown, 44mm from top to bottom. 15mm thickness. Has the original screwdown pushers and what appear to be the original black plastic chronograph push buttons CASEBACK -- Original stainless steel screwdown caseback. Has some wear and scratches as would be expected. BRACELET -- Original Universal Geneve stamped stainless steel bracelet made by Gay Freres, with a double deployment clasp. Correct, original "UM" stamped end links. Fit's my 7 1/4" wrist comfortably DIAL -- Outstanding original "reverse panda" three register black chronograph dial with white subdials. Nice yellow patina on hour indices. HANDS -- Original baton steel hour and minute hands with yellow luminous inserts that match the luminous baton hour indices on the dial. Original red center sweep chronograph hand. Original "bluish" subdial hands. BEZEL -- Original external rotating 60-min "count-up" bezel (as opposed to "countdown") CROWN -- Original stamped "U" crown functions properly. CRYSTAL -- Original stamped "U" plexi crystal MOVEMENT -- Original manual-winding Valjoux 72 / cal 85 chronograph. All chrono functions work as they should and the watch keeps time. That said, as with any vintage piece, I recommend servicing. The Universal Geneve Space-Compax 885104/01 was Universal Genève’s last great mechanical chronograph, powered by the famous Valjoux 72...
