Description: Unopened, MAXISLIDE XXL low friction slide sheet 68" x 57.5" for Large Person to maneuver and be repositioned while in bed. Maxislide can be used with one caregiver but ideally with two. Patient can also assist with repositioning, due to low friction quality of the slide sheet. The Maxislide must be folded, to slide on itself, or another slick surface, to reduce resistance, reposition effectively and provide the most comfort. What the Maxislide Can be Used for: Repositioning Lateral Transfers Rolling Pivoting Sliding / Transfers Instead of lifting patients during transfer or repositioning in the bed, Maxislides allow the patient to be repositioned, or they can slide themselves, for comfort and protection from skin injury from lying in bed in one position. This simple transfer technique reduces the likelihood of injury to the patient and to the caregiver. the transfer sheet can be folded compactly so that it takes up very little room. Improves Infection Control Maxislides make it possible to move the patient with a reduced amount of manual handling and effort. The reusable transfer sheets are durable, designed for multi-use and can be wiped down to clean or washed on a low heat and air dried in the drier. How to Place the Maxislide Under the Patient 1. With one Maxislide – Fold sheet in half - Roll, and place the 'OPEN' end at the head, position behind the shoulders, beneath the patient or beneath the patient's draw sheet. 2. Ensure the patient cannot roll out of bed with the slidesheet halfway beneath them.3. Ensuring the patient cannot roll or slide out of the bed, walk around to the patient's other side and lift their body up slightly, pulling the material through. 6. Once the slide sheet has been placed, the patient can be slid in any direction, including up and sideways, using the handles on the Maxislide or encouraging the patient to push down on the bed with their feet or using bed rails.7. Ensure to protect patient from sliding unassisted. Two people are recommended for safety. Removing the Maxislide 1. Push the Maxislide material under the patient on one side. 2. On one side of the patient, find the bottom corner of the Maxislide and pull, walking towards the head of the bed using bodyweight while pulling. 3. The Maxislide will slide out from underneath the patient easily, without the need to turn and move the patient. 4. The Maxislide can then be folded and tucked at the end of the bed so that it will be close at hand for caregivers when transfers, pivoting, and repositioning are necessary.
