Description: The State quarter program honored each state in the order of the state's joining the Union. The program ran from 1999 to 2008. Each coin was struck for only 10 weeks; thus, 5 per year. Individual states submitted their design for the reverse of the Washington quarter. In 2009, six quarters were released commemorating the District of Columbia and the five US territories.
