Overview: The Three Season Sleep System (“3S”) includes a sleeping bag the Improved Bivy Cover (IBC), at a total weight of 4.8 lbs. The Bivy Cover allows the Marine to be totally encapsulated under extreme weather conditions 10° below freezing and above; (when used with a ground insulator pad and proper clothing, intermittent use down to 5°F is achievable). This sleeping bag has an antimicrobial inner liner that helps to protect against the growth of micro-organisms. An integrated flexible wire allows the Bivy to stand off from the face (like a one-man tent); the bug-proof screen window can be fully or partially open. When fully encapsulated in the IBC, the user is provided maximum environmental protection. The waterproof IBC is also made of a micro-porous (gas permeable) laminated fabric with sealed seams that allows the user to sleep fully encapsulated without respiratory distress in adverse conditions -40°F and above.The material is a microporous laminated membrane with highly water repellent exterior. This bag is also produced with an anti-microbial inner liner that helps to protect against the growth of microorganisms that can be dangerous to the user. Features The system increases temperature by 15 degrees to protect at 20°F and above for wet and dry conditions for 4 hours uninterrupted sleep. Wearing clothing warming layers inside the bag provides protection down to 0°F.The bivy cover is 18% lighter and provides improved comfort, protection and volume.
