Description: [As of 2/3/2024, there is just one other 1916 first American edition, first printing copy listed for sale on any of the major rare book websites, and it is significantly damaged. No 2nd printing copies currently found. A search of the collected and archived auction records on the rarebookhub website going back to the 1920’s shows just 3 identified copies of this 1916 American 1st/1st sold during the last 100 years.] The book’s subtitle is: A STUDY OF THE TRANSFORMATIONS AND SYMBOLISMS OF THE LIBIDO. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE HISTORY OF THE EVOLUTION OF THOUGHT. Blue cloth-bound covers with very slight wear/rubbing, but some soiling - more so to the rear. Spine somewhat darkened, but the gold titles are still bright and distinct. Light foxing to the endpapers, and foxing to the long outside edge of the text block. The gilt top edge of text block has some small spots. No writing or written marks to the pages, but while paging though the entire book, several light and tiny pencil check marks in page margins were found, and thoroughly erased. There are also a very few tiny spots of unknown origin here and there within the book, which I can provide photos of through eBay messages, if requested. The sewn binding is still quite firm. The corners are sharp. Bookmark from the venerable Blackwell’s bookshop in Oxford. For what it’s worth, this is quite a scarce book to find in general, and particularly in good condition. Feel free to ask a question. An adult recipient at the eBay registered address will need to sign for the book at delivery. Thanks for looking.
