Description: This is a Beautiful Hand Carved Baule bull Mask that comes from the Ivory Coast. Ram masks, elegant, detailed, and relatively realistic, are used in secular public dance performances. While the serene representation of the human face is what made the Baule famous, they are very skilled in producing zoomorphic carvings of great beauty, with the well-known ram/bull masks among the most prized. Gbagba serves as much to entertain as they comment upon social behavior and are followed in the performance by horned masks representing wild animals that are ‘hunted’ and killed during the performance. This mask was carved in a single piece of wood and was worn on the top of the head. It a wonderful to adorn your home to add to your collection. This mask was created in the style of the Guro people of the Ivory Coast. The mask depicts a ram with swirled horns and beautiful markings down the bridge of his face. The mask is 17 inches tall and 12 inches wide and 10 inches long. The mask is sold with the display and if you do not want the display stand, we can sell without it. Note, Pictures are exact representations of the item.
