Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE VICTORIAN ANTIQUE WEBB BURMESE PIE CRUST RIM VASE ART GLASS HAND PAINTEDA beautiful Victorian antique art glass miniature vase. It was made by the firm of Thomas Webb and Sons in England after 1886. The glass is known as “Burmese” for its lovely and distinctive peach to cream shading of colors and its matte finish, and this one has great color; my photos do not do it justice. It also glows an intense whitish-yellow color under a blacklight. This one is decorated with a very attractive 100% hand painted floral design, which is very similar to the popular “Hawthorn” pattern. As you can see from my photos, the vase tapers inward from the base and has a lovey crimped or ruffled pie crust top rim. Just gorgeous. It has a concave ground and polished pontil mark on the underside. It has been part of my personal collection since the year 1993. This is an exceptionally well made and decorated piece and is a very high-quality piece of art glass. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” and “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. In the 2003 book Mt. Washington Art Glass and Webb Burmese: Identification & Value Guide by Betty B. Sisk, I see a similarly shaped vase, with a different decoration, pictured on page 61.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please take a moment and visit our eBay store “TNK Antiques”. You can access our store through a link in any of our eBay listings. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from over 40 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionCirca 1895. It is in near pristine original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the glass, and no obvious signs of use. I see only some extremely light age-related signs of use or wear to the hand-painted decoration and to the underside where the piece sits. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsIt is about 2.5” (6.4 cm) in diameter at the widest point of the body and stands about 4.25” (10.8 cm) tall. The pie crust rim is about 2.625” (6.6 cm) in diameter.Approximate WeightAbout 5.25 ounces (149 grams).
