Description: this is a gorgeous semi-impressionistic oil painting done by Gloucester artist Remo Gaietto showing a 1930's cottage overlooking a section of Gloucester Harbor - what is striking about this painting is the incredible shades of blue color that the very talented artist used to depict the color of the harbor water & the sunny blue sky - in person the blue colors stand out more than I can show with the photos - in the foreground is the main focus of the painting is a two-story cottage probably built in the c.1930's - the talented artist used a palette of soft & muted off-white & beige shades to depict the cottage which contrast beautifully with the shades of blue in the harbor background - the off-white & beige picket fence in front of the cottage also work with the cottage nicely - there is a real feeling of depth to this painting sensed by the viewer where the harbor & the buildings were done in a more impressionistic style, & the cottage was done more realistically - the painting measures 28" x 22", & is in very good condition - it is enhanced by an older gilded frame which measures 30" x 24", & is also in very good condition - on the reverse of the canvas is a short biography of the artist which shows that he attended the St. Martin's School of Art in London, England as well as the Art Students League in New York City - he has worked in his studio at Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester,MA every summer since 1980 -
