Description: This 2-17 was manufactured in Nazareth, PA on November 24, 1931, as per an email with Scott at Martin Guitars. I must apologize for the quality of some of the photos, but I think they show the condition of the guitar well enough. There are numerous scuffs and scratches, as is to be expected with a 93-year-old guitar, but generally appears to be in good structural shape. Its most notable damage is to the middle of the side of the headstock; it must have been knocked over into some hard countertop or the like at some point during its life. There appears to be some older damage as well, near the bottom of the headstock, that was repaired. It is also missing a bridge pin. As you can hopefully see from the photos, the metal plate which holds the tuners to the headstock is keeping it intact-- it's still completely playable, and the V-shaped neck is quite comfortable. I cannot speak to the condition of the tuners' gears etc. as I tried to be as hands-off with it as possible. The extent of the maintenance I performed was dusting it off with a dry cloth. I will not pretend to be an expert on these guitars, nor can I guarantee the absolute integrity of all of its parts, but to my senses this guitar has stories to tell. I have never shipped an item of such value before, so I'm open to discussion with the buyer-to-be regarding packaging. I don't have its original case, but I do have a particularly nice Martin soft case that I could ship it in (see last 2 photos). The case is oversized for this smaller parlor-sized guitar, but I would likely wrap the guitar, pack the case with padding, then pack the guitar within the case into a large, well-padded box.
