Vintage 1940's Baldwin French Made Midsize All SS Dress Watch w/Aged Dial,Patina

Description: ***********This is a midsize watch measuring approximately 31 mm excluding the crown, approximately 34 mm including the crown and approximately 16.5 mm between the lugs.***********This seldom seen vintage 1940's French made Baldwin, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a champagne-toned "Swiss" only signed aged dial and the radium, which has fallen out of the minute and hour hands, has aged deeply on the dial. Over time the red seconds hand has lost some of its paint. The midsize all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The case back is stamped "ANTIMAGNETIC - INCABLOC - STAINLESS STEEL - WATER RESIST" with what appears to be the dates "8/23/53" and "11/5/67" hand etched along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "LE BELIER BESANCON" followed by "MADE IN FRANCE." The crystal shows scratching.The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "Gigantic S.A." and "GOG" stamped manual wind movement (appears to be in the AS 1255,1287,1294,1494 and 1497 family) is clean and keeps accurate time. After recently winding the sharply threaded non-screwdown crown 30 full revolutions the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 37 hours. The crown winds smoothly. Given that this watch is more than 80 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history (there are multiple watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.This watch measures approximately 31 mm excluding the crown, approximately 34 mm including the crown and approximately 16.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 7 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 9 mm. This watch comes on a non-period correct 1960/70's NOS 16 mm curved lug ends band with "XONI" stamped straight edge buckle. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended.
