Description: VINTAGE 1950s STANCRAFT VARGAS PIN-UP GIRLS PLAYING CARDS DECK, IN BOX IN VG+ SHAPE / VERY NICE / MISSING THE 53RD CARD / THERE ARE 52 CARDS / 1950s / AS YOU SEE IT / RARE Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chávez (1896 – 1982) was a Peruvian-American painter of pin-up girls. He's considered one of the most famous of the pin-up artists. Many Vargas paintings have sold and continue to sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars...which just attests to the fact that Vargas was superb at his craft of illustrating beautiful women. His art was a long-time feature in Esquire Magazine and Playboy. Many historians of WWII credit Vargas and other pin-up artists of the era with keeping the spirits of American soldiers positive, remembering what they had to look forward to when finally going home. The original box shows some storage wear but is still able to protect the pinups inside. GREAT vintage condition. Circa 1950.
