Vintage 1970's Belair 20 ATM Day-Date Diver w/Patina,All SS Case,Runs Strong

Description: ***********The automatic movement runs about 5 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 46 hour power reserve period. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Belair, which came from the estate of its original owner, is in my humble opinion an example of a watch that looks markedly better in person. Under the heavily scratched crystal the matte black dial appears to be in near pristine condition. The lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged deeply. The black and silver bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS CASE WATER RESISTANT SHOCK RESISTANT ANTIMAGNETIC" with "TESTED AT" followed by "20 ATM" and "1555" stamped in the center. The crystal shows significant scratching and dust/debris on its underbelly. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. The automatic movement with quickset day and date functions runs strong, albeit fast, and both the day and date wheels roll over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. The quickset day function works in precisely the same manner with the exception of turning the crown counterclockwise. The day "Sunday" is in red while the days Monday through Saturday are in black. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement ran about 5 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 46 hour power reserve period. The crown winds smoothly. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 13 mm. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 13 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking! ***********The automatic movement runs about 5 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 46 hour power reserve period.
