Vintage 1970's Scubapro 500 Diver w/Pristine Dial,Patina,Massive All SS Case

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ***********Although the automatic movement keeps accurate time over its approximate 41 hour power reserve period the crystal should be replaced as it doesn't appear to be correct and it shows scratching as well as smudging/spotting on its underbelly. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.*********** This vintage 1970's Scubapro 500, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a matte black "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in pristine condition. The imperfections seen are on the crystal, not the dial. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The fat font black bezel, which shows wear and ratchets counterclockwise, presents nicely with the butterscotch inverted triangle lume complementing the patina on the dial and hands beautifully. The massive all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "INCABLOC AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE 67155 SUPER-WATERRESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL" with "SCUBAPRO WORLDWIDE" stamped in the center and "4785" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal should be replaced as it doesn't appear to be correct and it shows scratching as well as smudging/spotting on its underbelly. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. Based on several other examples I've had the movement is likely a 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "SCUBAPRO" stamped ETA 2784 automatic movement with quickset date function. It runs strong, keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by unscrewing the screwdown crown, pulling it out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 41 hour power reserve period. The crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should and winds smoothly. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 44 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 13.5 mm. The crystal adds no additional thickness. A complete overhaul is recommended. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 16 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
