Vintage 1970's Stowa La Cloche Seatime German Quartz World Time 15 ATM Diver

Description: ***********Despite the battery having been replaced in May 2024 given that this watch is more than 45 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Stowa La Cloche Seatime has a pristine matte black "GERMANY" signed dial and the original lume on the dial, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a warm buttermilk hue. The hands appear to have lost some of their lume although according to my watchmaker the case back on this watch had never been previously removed and the dial shows no loose lume flaking/dusting. It's possible that the lume on the hands was originally applied the way it is seen in the pictures. The world time bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally, presents nicely. Despite the case back being stamped "STAINLESS STEEL BACK," which tends to indicate that a mid-case (and crown) are chrome-plated, I believe the mid-case on this particular watch is all stainless steel as it is heavy, solid and shows no signs of brassing. I also believe the non-screwdown crown is all stainless steel as well. Having said that assume I'm wrong and that conventional wisdom holds, that both the mid-case and crown on this watch are chrome-plated. The cushion case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERRESISTANT ANTIMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL BACK" with "15 AT" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "STOWA" followed by "GERMANY." The crystal shows scratching.The German 7 jewels "STOWA" stamped quartz movement with quickset date function keeps time to within specs (+- 30 seconds per day) and the date wheel rolls over as it should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning the crown counterclockwise until the desired date has been reached. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 12.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 15 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended.
