Description: I inherited quite a few postcards from my German grandparents who collected postcards (Please see my other listings). This color postcard shows the ruins of a chapel called "Wernerkapelle" (Werner Chapel) in the town called "Bacharach", which is in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland Pfalz), Germany. It is #132 in a series called "Karten vom Rhein" (postcards from the Rhine). The publisher is "von Hoursch & Bechstedt" located in Cologne (Köln), and the painter's name is Nicolai Astudin (1848 - 1925). The translation of the text: "The Wernerkapelle, one of the most picturesque architectural structures along the Rhine river was built in 1428 in the most noble gothic forms (and) was destroyed during the 30 year war and then again in 1689". If you would like to buy several of my postcards, please contact me with an offer. I will ship with non-tracked first class USPS mail. From non smoking home.
