Description: VINTAGE Antique TREENWARE Hand Carved WOOD Masher Stomper KITCHEN TOOLThis is a nicely made older hand carved wood masher, stomper, pestle or multiuse kitchen tool. We are not sure where is was made or who made it but it is a nice classic folk art type example and is most likely from the 1900s-1930s. It has the very simple utilitarian look of Shaker Community Made Wood or Treen-ware Tools - we have no provenance whatsoever. No matter who made it it is a wonderful piece with nice darker patina. A nice old darker surface finish which is hard to find in any condition. It measures approx 9.25" from top of handle to base portion. It is approx 2" Wide at widest portion end of base and approx 1" diameter at top of handle. It has a very nicely ridged or ringed carved handle and base which is more carved than most we have owned or seen. See all photos. Thanks for looking. The base has an age crack across it and has some nail marks in center - not sure why. It also has a nail hole in the top of the handle- may have had a ring or a nail in it at one point. If you wanted to hang on a peg rack or on your wall you could insert a wire ring for hanging or even a thick string/rope/fabric loop to facilitate hanging from the top. Or you could just tie an old piece of fabric across the ring or ridge near the top and that would work as well. This early item or tool is nicely turned from wood (could be maple or elm or any other type of wood. It may be lightly stained or is possibly even unstained- it is a smooth surface with signs of age. Shipping is $9.95 due to value of item with insurance.
