Description: We are delighted to offer this rare empty green glass gin bottle with AH seal on top. It was made by Avan Hoboken & Co. Rotterdam in the late 1800’s. This is a blown glass bottle showing its original pontil. It measures approximately 11” high and is in good condition without restoration. Gin originated in the Netherlands in the 17th century. Its invention is often credited to the physician Franciscus Sylvius. It was sold in pharmacies and used to treat such medical problems as kidney ailments, lumbago, stomach ailments, gallstones, and gout. We appreciate your careful review of the photos as they tell so much more than we can articulate; and ask that you zoom in for a closer look at any and all condition issues. We welcome questions and encourage you to ask before reaching a buying decision. Fixed rate shipping applies to US buyers only. As always, we thank you for taking a moment to consider this piece.
