Description: Vintage jet pilot / Air Force survival knife made by the Camillus Cutlery Company at their Camillus, Onondaga County, New York (near Syracuse) factory. Camillus was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the USA. Because this is a knife, I cannot offer international shipping on this item -- I can only ship it to addresses here in the USA -- thanks for understanding.This knife is marked on the hex pommel, “Camillus”, “N.Y.”, “11-1981”. Starting in 1961, Camillus made this type of knife with a (approx.) 5” blade. Overall, it measures approx. 9 3/4”. Comes with sheath, as pictured (which came with the knife and I think is original to it). There is no sharpening stone.I recently acquired around 15 vintage knives from an estate cleanout. This is one of them. I’m not a knife pro, but if you have any questions please ask and I’ll do my best to answer correctly.All of the knives from the estate need some work. I don’t personally do this kind of work, but I researched it a little on the net and it actually looks like fun. I bet it feels rewarding to see the transformation, in the end. I used to restore paintings, so I know the feeling.This Camillus knife feels really tight and solid. The blade is in good shape. I'm sure it need sharpening. It obviously needs cleaning, which I understand can be done by soaking the blade in white vinegar.The knife has a stacked leather handle. As you can see in the pictures, some of the spacers have cracked, although they aren’t loose. These could be filled in. I’m not sure if the handle needs to be buffed out, but otherwise, I know people condition or wax the leather and sometimes use shoe polish. Apparently, at least some USA manufacturers originally dipped the leather handles in lacquer.Check back with me for other listings for knives from this estate.
