Description: This beautiful detailed color lithograph is by English artist George Downing (1878-1940) of Bootham Bar in the city of York is framed and matted. Bootham Bar was one of the original entrances to the Roman fort that was established there almost 2,000 years ago. It continued to play an important part in the history of York over the centuries so artist George Downing made this print in the early 20th century to picture the site. The print measures 9” by 6”, the frame measures 15 ½” by 12 5/8” by 5/8” and the weight is 2 pounds, 5 ounces. It is in good condition with some shading from age and some chips on the frame (see photos). (3477-
