Description: I am crazy in love with the vibes this hen gives out and someone needs her to adorn your Thanksgiving table!. The patina is perfect...crazed and worn in all the right places! I have never seen this pottery pattern before and am not sure if it classifies as "redware". Both pieces(underplate and hen lid) seem to be made of terracotta, clay or red slip covered in a black glaze. There is ample evidence of surface painting also, but just enough left to be wonderful. I am calling this a butter dish as i haven't a clue what else to call it. There are a few well placed chips as shown in the photos and the piece does not have an identifiable maker mark/stamp.
