Box measurements: Height: 13'' (33 cm) Width: 10-1/2'' (27 cm) Depth: 6'' (15 cm) Back of the movement has inscription: 74 FHS germany 340-020 This clock houses ORIGINALY MARKED Franz Hermle & Son movement. It is original, complete, in good condition, running well and ready for use. It features Westminster chimes on the quarters and strikes the hours. The chime has shut-off lever. As many older original FHS movements works for 9 days (when fully wind up) and is not off even part of a minute. #340 020 is a Westminster chime mantel clock movement that has been available from Hermle for many years and is still being built today. Has 2 to 4 jewels. I believe that this clock belongs to a Limited Edition of ENDURA/FHS clocks produced by one of Hermle sons (Gebhard, Alfred, Hans or Heinrich) after Franz Hermle died in 1953 and they changed company name to Franz Hermle & Sohn (Postfach 1120, 78555Gosheim, Germany). As far as I know movement that I am offering was manufactured between late 50s and early 70s. Since 1930’s, the Hermle clock company was a world leader in the manufacturing of quality clock movements. Mostly Hermle makes the 340-020 for well-known American clock companies (such as Seth Thomas and Ingraham, Howard Miller, etc) those companies put their name on movement plate (along with model 340-020). But, it is not commonly known that Franz Hermle and Sohn produces a full line of quality clocks including a line of wooden grandfather clocks made in Germany like this one.
