Description: This vintage etched brass and wood school bell is a beautiful addition to any collection of nostalgic school items. The bell measures 7 3/4" tall and 3 3/4" at the widest point. The bell itself is 3 1/4" high and the wood handle is 4 1/2" long. This classic piece of Americana is an original from the mid-20th century, circa 1950's or prior. The bell has a figural leaf pattern etched around the circumference. The wooden hand is a warm medium tone and protected with a coat of varnish. The bell's clapper is a square piece of lead, once painted gold in color, that hangs from a wire. The bell does have a slight crease on one side. (Please see last photo). I have left the natural dark age patina on the bell and leave it up to the buyer as to whether they wish to clean it or not. Beautiful example of a simpler, bygone era.
