Description: This Excellent Stetson - Early 1980s - Big (VERY BIG!) Gus - Tom Mix - Color is a Brown with a bit Forrest Green type Tint, read below. A Very Wide 5 inch wide brim and is nearly 8 inches tall crown! We believe this is and was Stetson’s BIGGEST HAT THEY EVER MANUFACTURED! And that real Horsehair hatband really makes this look OUTSTANDING! This BIG hat no longer fits inside the Stetson hat box after shaping. So NO Hat Box. We know The size tag states 7-1/8 but this measures to a PERFECT 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches, read below and see last picture. This was steam shaped by Dad and Grandson. First into an Open Crown (see next to the last picture) which looked outstanding but both Dad and Grandson believes it’s best shape is that Gus - Tom Mix. If you’d like it shaped back to an Open Crown after you buy it, just write to us and we will get that done. The height would then be slightly over 8 inches. We added 1 picture while it was being shaped, before it was steamed into the current shape. Note After shaping the hat it NO LONGER FITS INTO THE HAT BOX! SO NO HAT BOX IS INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. But don’t worry this will be very gently and securely packed to ship. This will require a Very Big shipping box because it’s so BIG! At near 18 inches long and nearly 8 inch tall crown, you can understand why this costs more to ship. We DO NOT compress hats into a box! The hats we ship arrive in the same condition and shape as you see pictured. This is another of son’s OUTSTANDING Vintage early 1980s Stetson Beaver BIG Gus Tom Mix Cowboy hats. This was manufactured from a 4X Beaver. Since this is a vintage Beaver it’s very very soft to the touch and it is pliable enough to steam shape this into any style! It will hold any shape that’s steamed into this great hat! There is just NO comparison to any of the newer hats that are sold today! The newer Stetson hats are very stiff and not really pliable at all! There is just NO way to compare this to anything new! If you look at all the pictures you will see there is very very minor wear on it! And really appears near pristine. Grandson says he sees some very very minor rubs, Dad and I don’t see it but that’s no surprise at our ages! This hat is just too outstanding to have never been worn! It was worn and then just stored away. See all the pictures, we hide NOTHING! We filled the picture gallery so you can see each and every detail on the outstanding hat! NO HAT BOX CURRENTLY! JUST THERE FOR THE PICTURE. The color is a bit hard to describe! Inside the home it is a Brown with a bit of a slight light Forest Green type tint. Again inside the home it has that tint to it but outside it shows up less. We hope we are describing this well? If you have any questions please write to us. The pictures 15 & 16 are the closest and representation of the actual color outside. It’s the closest ones. Still looks all brown but it does have a slight forrest green to it. Ok now the particulars The size tag states 7-1/8 but this measures to a PERFECT 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. This was Not stretched! It actually measured 7-1/4 out of the hat box! But this could be stretched to a slightly larger size if you needed! It just takes time and lots of patience. Probably NOT to a 7-3/8. Many of our buyers are using that $15 Amazon hat stretcher getting excellent results. We use the Tilley Hat Sizing chart for sizes, that came in the 1970s when the Tilley Hat Sizing Chart was developed.
