Description: Vintage Golf Club Macgregor Duralite Mashie 4 Iron Dayton OH Steel Shaft. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This shaft is an early patented steel that is painted by the manufacturer to simulate a light colored wood. Its my understanding that steel shafts were first introduced in the 1920s to replace Hickory shafts and make them more reliable and stronger to keep from breaking. I think these are from the 30's; but not positive as there is limited information available on this early product. Maybe as late as the 40's. Since the club is vintage, it has been well-used. I have not cleaned it at all. Then grip has a lot of intentions and scarring on it. The head has small chips and scratches. The head of the golf club, says MacGregor - Dayton Ohio. Balanced stainless steel. It has two stars on it. It has the initials elh written on it. Duralite mashie-iron 4. The weight is 14 3/4 oz. The length is 37 1/2 in. Hopefully the pictures will give you any information you need. If not, don't hesitate to send a message through eBay.
