Description: This is an unusual cast iron surveyor surveying level that is marked on the brass top of the level Gray Instrument Co. "Queen Instruments" Phila, PA USA and then the serial number of 5453. The vial bubble is good. The overall length of the level is 18 inches. The level unpacked without original box weight is very heavy being 7 pounds 14 ounces. It has the original wooden box with it which has the brass tag on the top with Gray Instrument Co. Queen Instruments 64 70 W, Johnson St. Philadelphia, Penna. Above that the previous owner added the time period of 1925-1952. On inside of box lid is the Model A-1653 Level Ser. NO. 5453 and Calibrations. Also on center of box lid is adv for Gray Instrument transits levels and compasses. The weight unpacked of level inside box is ten pounds three ounces.
