Well known for his many landscapes of the city of Venice, he also painted in Paris. In both cities, he was known for his fascination with capturing the magical light as it hit the water. This work, oil on wooden board, features a canal in Venice on what appears to be an overcast, gray day. The artist’s signature appears on the back of the piece, upper right corner,”Duprat”, as photographed. Framed in a rustic, stained wooden frame, likely not the original as it is fairly ill fitting.
