Description: Vintage Large 14” Chulucanas Peru Pottery Lizard Plate. Black matted finish on the bottom, top has a white lizard with its head coming off the plate in 3D on a black background. Top also has a gloss finish. The plate is in good condition appears to be missing some white clay for an eye and has a small chip on the handle. Please see pictures for more details and condition. Chulucanas ceramics have become an important part of Peru’s national history because of their aesthetic appeal and the techniques used to craft the pieces. The town of Chulucanas in the Piura river valley of Peru is known for this style of unique pottery making.
