Description: Vintage Mantle Shelf Clock Urgos Mechanical Time Strike Movement Solid Wood 1930 Beautiful old clock in good working condition. It is in great condition for its age but its not perfect. There is some wear. The dial has scratches and marks. The wood veneer finish looks good but there are some light scratches and a couple small dings. There is one chip in the veneer on the back edge, shown in photos. Some edge wear and corner dings. The only major thing is the door. The wood is splitting where the bottom hinge screws go in. There is a key included but I dont think it is the original. There is a " Silent/Chime" switch on the dial if you need to silence the clock for any reason. Uragos was a German movement manufacture that started building high quality clock movements in the mid 1920s. They continued producing high quality movements until some time into the early 2000s. I tried finding out more information on the movement but with the company being out of business I did not have any luck. I kept running into the same information saying the old numbering system is no longer valid. I had the clock running for 5 days without fully winding it while I adjusted the pendulum and made sure it would keep accurate time. So it's safe to say it is an 8 day movement at a minimum. There are to many clock makers that used Urgos movements to even guess at who the clock maker is. With no other markings that I could find it may remain a mystery. I can say that it is well built and was a nice high end hand made clock back in the day. I estimate it was built sometime in the 1930s.
