Description: Presented is an exceptional modernist covered ciborium made of sterling silver. The chalice is designed to emphasize the smooth clean lines of its form. The base is a tapered cylinder, and the bowl of the cup has an elegant symmetry to it. The lid resembles a very shallow Japanese tea bowl inverted over the ciborium. It rests on three rectangular supports spaced evenly inside the ciborium. The outside of the ciborium and cover is done with a simple smooth finish and the inside is done with a nice hand-hammered finish. This was made in America, probably during the mid 1900s. The ciborium is marked on the underside with STERLING and HANDMADE. The condition is excellent. There is some minor surface wear on the outside of the ciborium, commensurate with age and minimal use. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. The ciborium measures approximately 5 1/4 inches in diameter and 6 1/4 inches tall with the lid on. The chalice weighs 480.9 grams or 16.96 ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
