Description: You're buying this authentic vintage cradleboard, which is evidently made as a toy, to be used with a doll, rather than a real baby. It is woven of some sort of stiff reed, with a pouch of deer skin to hold the doll. Dimensions: approximately 9" (widest part of hood) by 20" high. This was acquired in the central valley region of California. Unsure of exact date or location of origin. Seems to be quite old. A knowledgeable source told me it was possibly Yokuts. From the examples I found, it looks like it could conceivably also be Western Paiute, Mono, Miwok, etc. Condition is decent, everything is holding together nicely, though some dust comes off when it is moved from place to place. There were probably two supports holding the hood up which are missing. Please see photos for details. Thanks for your interest!
