Description: This outsider art piece is truly one of a kind. Remarkable detail and painting flourishes bring to life this soldier in full regalia. Admirers of naive art can appreciate the passion put into this folk art piece that depicts a slice of Americana. Painting is titled at the bottom in script: 21st US Infantry 1813Artist signature is right below the tuft of grass on the right side. H. S. 67 Artistic liberty was taken with the depiction of the outfit. The soldier is wearing blue cap with feather plume out of the top, blue jacket with gold details, yellow pants, black shoes. A red canteen is slung over their shoulder. They also sport a bayonet carriage. Their arms grasp their rifle. A rucksack is on their back. Standard issue uniform at the time was a Yeoman Crown Shako, similar to pictured. Soldiers did wear blue coatees but the buttons and details were typically different. The pants would have been white.
