Here is a vintage prison-made hitched horsehair bridle and reins with tassels, glass rosettes and curb bit. The bridle has considerable wear; check the photos for the condition. The bridle is made with brown and black horse hair with a geometric design. Tassels extend from the headpiece just below the browband which has glass and metal rosettes. The throat latch joins at the bottom with a tassel. The cheekpieces connect to the old curb bit with leather straps and buckles. The leather curb strap has a buckle. The reins are approximately 41-inches long, connect to the bit with leather straps and buckles and are joined together at the end with a hand-stitched leather keeper. The rein ends are unraveling. All of the metal pieces have lost their silver tone finish. This bridle belonged to the mother of a friend. She was an avid horsewoman, and this is from her estate.
