DESCRIPTIONManufacturer – Crafted in limited edition in China for retail sale by the Bombay Brands Division of the Fort Worth, Texas holding company Tandy Brands, Inc., a Nasdaq Company. History of Classic Blue & White Porcelain: Originally, Chinese artisans used rare Lapis Lazuli pigment (one of the very few pigments that can withstand the highest porcelain firing temperatures) then later used cobalt oxide to imitate Lapis Lazuli. During the Islamic Abbasid Caliphate (from around 750 AD, onward). Imported blue and white pottery subsequently became popular all over the Middle East. These blue & white type vases originated in the Chinese Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD).Since the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), the design became the mainstream of Chinese porcelain production. In the later Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD) blue and white porcelain still dominated. The style served the imperial family, was broadly popularized among the populace, and was exported worldwide. This particular vase-design features a European type stone-castile in the background suggesting it is a faithful reproduction of an original European export-version primarily intended for a European audience.
