Today it’s hard not come across a Sanborns in Mexico, a popular spot for breakfasts and casual dining, or even just for coffee. Sanborns was originally built up by the American brothers Frank and Walter Sanborn early in the 20th century, first as a drugstore, to which later a soda fountain was added. The concept became so popular that dictator Porfirio Díaz used to stop by at one of the Sanborns soda fountains. Revolutionaries Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa took refreshments at Sanborns when they marched into the capital more than a century ago. Walter Sanborn returned to California, tired of the political turmoil in Mexico at the time, while Frank and his two sons, represented by the three owls on the Sanborns logo, continued to run the business until 1946, when they sold it to Walgreens. Now it is owned by Carlos Slim, the telecom magnate, who bought the chain from Walgreens in 1985. Interior of folded menu has a complete list of the box lunch selection, a great addition for the menu collector. The menu is approximately 4.75" X 3" (folded), 4.75" X 6" (unfolded), approximate shipping weight: 3 ounces. PLEASE SEE DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOS FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS - The menu is in overall Good used condition with issues, stains, signs of wear, soiling, creases, some age toning, no writing, no odors, please see images.
