Description: For sale is a stunning example of Seiko’s craftsmanship from the 1970s: the Seiko Lord Matic Special Ref: 5216-6040. Many regard the Lord Matic series to rank just under the Grand Seiko and King Seiko series during the Golden Age of Japanese watchmaking. This watch, a Lord Matic Special, was at the top of the Lord Matic band - featuring a higher beat rate and a micro-regulator, and adjusted for a highly accurate -3/+3 seconds a day. In fact, the 5216 automatic movement inside was part of a family that formed the entry-level foundation for other 5200-series used in the King Seiko movements. Subsequently, it was also resurrected and updated in 1992 with the Seiko 4S series, which was used for Seiko’s high-end watches, including Credor. This watch lives up to the promise of its movement, losing 5-7 seconds a day and maintaining a zero beat error - all within official accuracy standards applied to chronometers. Additionally, the 5216-6040 is a rare reference that features a striking striped dial that looks almost lenticular, the pattern shifting as one changes the viewing angle. It was also issued in brown, but this iridescent green dial is much rarer. Comes with its original factory fitted Seiko steel bracelet, making this watch an all-original. No box/papers.
