Description: Vintage solid mahogany hardwood bookcase, with shelves and glass doors, 2 sliding 1 locking with key. Bookcase was custom made in the 1930 - 40's in South Africa from solid African Mahogany, probably Sapele.Has been in our family since it was made and has travelled from South Africa to the UK, to The Netherlands and lastly to the USA. Top is solid hardwood, approximately 1 in thick. Frame and side panels are solid mahogany, back is plywood.Shelves are solid matching wood.The bookcase hast wo compartments, the taller has a hinged glass door with lock and one key, 2 shelves. The larger compartment has sliding glass doors with ground finger grips and 2 shelves.All shelves adjustable within a range of 14 steps. Bookcase is in solid condition with good joints. All glass is is good condition, no chips.Sliding glass doors run in wood grooves but move easily and can be removed.Wood surfaces are good showing the wear to be expected on an 80+ year old piece of furniture, the photos give a good impression of condition. Item is large and moderately heavy so listed for local pick-up. (If you wish to arrange and cover the cost of packing and shipping I will consider.)
