Vintage Stanley 36G-12in Adjustable Metalic Plumb & Level

Description: Stanley started production of these USA made 36G-12in adjustable metallic levels in 1898 and ended in the late 1970's. The rotating vial covers were added in 1935. Judging from its condition and the other tools in the carpenter's box it came in, this one was probably made early on the production timeline. It has the usual nicks and dings associated with an old tool that was used often. The vial covers are in good working order. There appears to be a large chip from its top that was coded with a tar like substance, presumably to keep it from cutting into the hand of the user. It also appears to be fully functional. We also try to point out any flaws, repairs or maintenance needed, like a cutting edge needing to be sharpened or with nicks. We do not think items labeled Parts, Repair or Study are usable. They may have salvageable parts, be a tool with broken or missing parts, or something we think may be of interest to other collectors. A rare pocket knife with broken blades may fall into this category. Or we may label it as collectable. This said, all item descriptions are based upon visual inspection only.
