Description: Very attractive tonal watercolor of the American West executed by Louis J Roberts depicting two figures outside a plains dwelling. Intriguing and well executed. Though the colors are of the desert plains landscape, there is some aging to the work, though it hardly shows. Louis John Rogers (California, 1883-1959) Oil on board autumnal landscape. Sight size: 7.5 x 9.5 inches. From 1899 to 1902 Rogers studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute in San Francisco. In 1918 he moved down the peninsula to Burlingame and in 1928 opened an art school there. He remained in Burlingame until his demise at Agnews Hospital on Nov. 12, 1959. Member: Calif. Society of Etchers. Exh: Calif. Society of Etchers, 1931-33; SF Academy of Advertising Art, 1933 (with Maurice Logan).
