Description: Absolutely beautiful vintage wastepaper basket from Wendell August Forge handmade in hand hammered aluminum. This trash can features the dogwood pattern on one side. The back seam that is riveted is on the opposite side. The top has a scalloped edge and measures approx. 11 inches across. The trash can is approx. 10-3/4 inches tall and 7-3/4 inches across the bottom. it carries the iconic Wendell August Forge trademark. There is no separate "Grove City" stamp in the trademark, that detail was introduced in 1949 There is also no " handmade" stamp in the trademark, that detail was introduced in 1956. There is also a style #900 underneath the trademark. The use of these style #'s was declining in 1962 and completely discontinued by 1967. These three details leads me to believe that this can was produced sometime between 1945 and 1961. Very few trash cans are produced these day with most of them having professional sport team logos or armed forces branch logos. the new trash cans carry a premium price in the hundreds. This beautiful aluminum piece would make a welcomed addition to any decor. Those who collect Wendell August Forge items can truly appreciate the craftsmanship that went into creating this piece.
