Description: Westmoreland Glass Company, known for its exquisite milk glass, produced this distinctive glassware from the 1920s through the 1950s. In fact, during this period, approximately 90% of their production was dedicated to milk glass12.Milk glass, with its characteristic milky white hue, was a hallmark of Westmoreland’s craftsmanship. Here are some highlights from their history:Early Beginnings: Westmoreland Specialty Company emerged from Specialty Glass Company when it relocated from East Liverpool, Ohio, to Grapeville, Pennsylvania in the late 1880s. By 1890, they were producing high-quality glass in pot furnaces at their new factory. Candy Containers: During World War I, Westmoreland crafted various glass candy containers sold at newsstands and dime stores. However, these ventures were eventually abandoned due to profitability concerns.
