Description: This is a Mid-Century piece of ornately designed Functional Art. These were made in the late 1930s by the "Virginia Metal Crafters" company in Virginia, USA. This Set of Bookends is Solid Brass with a beautiful Verdigris Patina with brilliant glintz of the Gold Brass peeking through. They are in their original condition, unaltered. The Makers Mark is on the underside. It is 6 inches tall x 5 1/2" wide x 1 1/2 deep each. The design has often been attributed to the artist E.T. Hurley as a California Historical Design who may have given the Virginia Metal Crafters the rights to manufacture this design as they did with many artists of the day. Virginia Metal Crafters was founded in 1895 as a stove manufacturer, but in 1938 they established a brass foundry and began a brass and iron giftware line. There is their Makers Mark on the bottom that proves it's authenticity. These 2 bookends are 3 lbs and 6 oz of Solid Brass!Size- 6" tall x 5 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" deep each
