Fig. 2 gives the same elevation, on a scale of 0m0065 for 1m, with all construction details, and assuming that the planking which covers the framework, to prevent it from being damaged by the rain, was removed from part of the bridge. Fig. 3 indicates cross section of the framework. Fig. 4 gives the horizontal cut of the framework by a plan carried out the height AB, Fig. 3. She makes you see the arrangement of horizontal pieces that brace the upper deck of the bridge. Fig. 5 is a section, through a horizontal plane, at height CD, Fig. 3. She represents the arrangement of one of the abutments and that braces from the bottom of the frame. Fig. 6 gives the projection of the upper deck of the bridge, seen from above, that of the systems, one upper, the other lower, of braces, and that of the coronation of the battery. The dimensions listed on the drawing are expressed in feet and in English inches. The relative proportions of the various parts are thus better clearly that if we had converted the English measurements into French measurements. This bridge has a length of 2,844 feet (867m 42cm) between the abutments. This length is divided into nineteen bays, of which the range, from the center of one pile to the center of the other, varies from 140 to 153 feet (42m 70 to 46m 66); only one, which touches on one of the abutments, at 130 feet (39m 65). Ten bays have a maximum width of 153 feet (46m66); four are 150 feet (45m 75); four 140 feet (42m 70), and only one, we said, 130 feet (39m 65) Martin2001 Satisfaction Guaranteed Policy!
