Description: This high-quality eyepiece is the earlier version (model GLH48Z) of the Vixen GLH48 Zoom Eyepiece for Vixen Geoma spotting scopes (estimated date of manufacture circa 1995-2005). In creating the GLH48Z Vixen essentially used the same basic design as that used for the highly regarded Vixen Lanthanum LV-Zoom astronomical eyepiece and adapted it for terrestrial viewing by replacing the chromed insertion barrel with a spotting scope mounting ring. The body of the item listed here (GLH48Z) is embossed "Japan" (NRO was not able to ascertain whether the later version was still marked as made in Japan). Both models are discontinued; of the two, the GLH48Z is more difficult to find.
