VW Splitscreen Moortown autohome vintage awning

Description: in the early 60's Moortown converted splitscreen buses into the autohome conversion. Based in Moortown, Leeds, they offered the lean-to canvas awning as an optional extra with the conversions (or to buy seperatly) This is the only surviving example of the Moortown anwing i have ever found, it's had a single owner all it's life and was purchased direct from Moortown in the 60's The awning itself is in good overall condition, it does have a small area on the roof that needs repair (mouse holes) a small hole on the side tunnel and a couple of the skirt eyelets need replacing, other than this, its in really good shape, the colour is still strong . Check the pictures, the bus side has an ingenius tunnel feature where the drive away door is raised over the bus and a pair of inner doors unfold and attached via press studs create a tunnel between the awning and the bus - very cool The awning has the original tent poles, what your buying is the canvas, the main tent poles, original canvas bag and the original all weather gound sheet, which is in remarkable condition for the age. No pegs, no guy ropes and no poles to hold up the front canopy. The tent is quick to erect and dismantle (10 minutes for 1 person) it was loosely pegged for the pictures, but is designed to utilise guy ropes on each corner, so would suggest fitting those, it would of course benefit from a full fabsil treatment to protect the canvas for years to come and a repair to the roof holes (it's only a small section and small patch could be easily glued used fabric glue to repair this) I've never seen another Moortown awning and doubt i will ever see another the frame is the same dimensions and design as the L&S canvas frames, but there are no maker markings anywhere on the awning
