Description: W. Britain/Ertl Figures - German Machine Gun Set with 2 Soldiers Contains two 1:32 (54mm) pewter/metal figures with MG34 and ammo belt along with battlefield diorama set. Item No. 17593 The MG 34 had a double-crescent trigger that allowed for semi-auto and fully auto fire without a mode selector switch. The select fire option made a significant difference to accuracy vs. the MG 42 making follow up shots easier and more precise. It was used with a bipod in the light machine gun role and with one of two tripods in the medium machine gun role which increased its accuracy. It was more expensive and took longer to produce than the MG 42 which had a much higher firing rate. The barrels had to be removed often (over 450 rounds led to melting) but were easier to release and quickly replace. Condition - new with minor wear on box.
