There is an "I" in the toga, for Ingram, just above the "3" the date. Washington is wearing a laurel wreath. Around most of the border is " WASHINGTON &INDEPENDENCE", with the date at the bottom center. The reverse shows a woman seated to the left, draped, and holding a staff in the left hand with a freedman's cap on top. In the right hand, she holds a laurel branch. Both sides are medium to dark brown.
